Mapex Comet Complete 5-Piece Drum Kit 10"/12"/14"/14"S/20"K w/ Cymbals and Hardware - Infra Red

Start your Drummer For Life journey with the Mapex Comet 5-Piece Drum Kit in Infra Red, featuring a versatile 10", 12", 14", 14", and 20" configuration.

Designed to give beginning and developing drummers a complete acoustic drum setup, the Comet combines warm-sounding 9-ply, 7.2mm poplar shells with Mapex SONIClear™ Bearing Edges, dependable chrome hardware, and an adjustable tom mounting system.

This configuration gives you a 20" bass drum, 10" and 12" mounted toms, 14" floor tom, and 14" snare drum, providing a compact yet versatile setup that works especially well for practice, lessons, rehearsals, home studios, worship environments, and developing players.

The vibrant Infra Red (IR) finish gives the kit a bold appearance, while the chrome hardware provides a classic contrast.

Whether you're buying your first acoustic drum set, upgrading from a smaller student kit, or looking for a complete drum setup for a developing drummer, the Mapex Comet delivers the essential foundation for years of playing.

10", 12", 14", 14", 20" Configuration

This Comet configuration provides a traditional five-drum setup with a 20" bass drum, two mounted toms, a floor tom, and snare.

Drum Sizes

• 10" rack tom

• 12" rack tom

• 14" floor tom

• 14" snare drum

• 20" bass drum

The combination of 10" and 12" mounted toms provides two distinct higher-pitched voices for fills and melodic tom patterns, while the 14" floor tom delivers a deeper, fuller voice.

The 20" bass drum offers a balanced footprint that works particularly well for players who want a full acoustic drum sound without the larger physical size of a 22" bass drum.

Together, the five drums create a versatile configuration suitable for rock, pop, worship, country, blues, alternative, and general-purpose playing.

9-Ply Poplar Shells

The Comet's drums feature 9-ply, 7.2mm poplar shells, providing a warm and full tonal character.

Poplar is a popular choice for entry-level and developing-player drum kits because it produces a musical, balanced sound across the drum set. The shell construction gives the Comet enough versatility for practice and rehearsal while remaining approachable for players who are still developing their technique.

From the punch of the 20" bass drum to the higher response of the 10" and 12" toms, the Comet's poplar shells provide a cohesive sound across the kit.

SONIClear™ Bearing Edges

The Mapex Comet features SONIClear™ Bearing Edges, an important design feature that helps the drumhead sit flush against the shell.

This design helps make tuning more straightforward while promoting shell resonance and tonal clarity.

For a beginning drummer, easier tuning can make a significant difference. Properly seated drumheads help the drums respond consistently and make it easier to achieve a musical sound without spending excessive time adjusting the drums.

SONIClear™ technology gives the Comet a feature set that goes beyond the most basic beginner drum kits.

360° Adjustable TH6215 Tom Holder

The included TH6215 tom holder provides 360° adjustment, allowing the 10" and 12" mounted toms to be positioned comfortably for the player.

Proper drum positioning is an important part of developing good technique. The adjustable tom holder allows the player to customize the angle and placement of the mounted toms according to their preferred playing position.

As the player grows and develops, the ability to adjust the kit's setup provides additional flexibility.

20" Bass Drum

The 20" bass drum gives this Comet configuration a balanced combination of punch, depth, and portability.

A 20" bass drum is an extremely versatile size for a wide variety of musical applications. It provides enough low-end presence for rock and pop while remaining manageable for home practice, lessons, and smaller performance spaces.

For players who want a full-size acoustic drum kit without moving up to a larger 22" bass drum, this configuration offers a practical middle ground.

14" Floor Tom

The 14" floor tom adds the low, resonant voice needed for fills and grooves while maintaining a relatively compact footprint.

Combined with the 10" and 12" mounted toms, the 14" floor tom provides three distinct tom voices across the kit, giving developing drummers plenty of room to explore different fills and playing styles.

14" Snare Drum

The included 14" snare drum provides the primary backbeat voice of the kit.

At 14", the snare offers the familiar size and response that most drummers expect from a standard acoustic drum set. Its role across rock, pop, country, blues, worship, and countless other styles makes it an essential part of the Comet configuration.

Cymbals & Hardware

The Comet Series is designed as a complete drum package, with essential hardware available for getting the kit set up and ready to play.

The Comet package includes the necessary drum hardware according to the selected configuration, including:

• Hi-hat stand

• Cymbal stand

• Snare stand

• Single bass drum pedal

• Drum throne

• TH6215 tom holder

Mapex also specifies 14" hi-hat and 16" crash cymbals for the Comet package/configuration. Please verify current package contents with Metz Music for the exact SKU before ordering.

Infra Red Finish

The Infra Red finish gives this Comet drum kit a vibrant, unmistakable appearance.

The rich red finish is complemented by chrome hardware, creating a classic acoustic drum aesthetic with a modern, energetic look.

If you're searching for a red Mapex drum set, Infra Red acoustic drum kit, or Mapex Comet in Infra Red, this configuration offers an especially distinctive option.

A Complete Setup for Developing Drummers

The Mapex Comet is designed to make the transition into acoustic drumming straightforward.

The 10/12/14/14/20 configuration provides enough tonal variety to keep up with a player's development while remaining manageable for practice and lessons.

The 10" and 12" rack toms provide higher voices, the 14" floor tom adds depth, the 14" snare provides the central backbeat, and the 20" bass drum anchors the entire kit.

That combination makes the Comet an excellent platform for learning everything from basic eighth-note grooves to more advanced fills and arrangements.
