Mapex Comet Complete 5-Piece Drum Kit 10"/12"/16"/14"S/22"K w/ Cymbals and Hardware - Ebony Yellow Grain

Start your Drummer For Life journey with the Mapex Comet 5-Piece Drum Kit in Ebony Yellow Grain, featuring a versatile 10", 12", 16", 14", and 22" configuration.

Designed for beginning and developing drummers, the Mapex Comet combines warm-sounding 9-ply, 7.2mm poplar shells with Mapex SONIClear™ Bearing Edges, dependable chrome hardware, and an adjustable tom mounting system.

This configuration features a 22" bass drum, 10" and 12" mounted toms, 16" floor tom, and a 14" snare drum, providing a full, versatile setup with an expansive tonal range.

The striking Ebony Yellow Grain finish gives this Comet kit a distinctive appearance, combining a dark ebony-style exterior with a vibrant yellow-grain accent for a look that stands apart from traditional solid-color drum finishes.

Whether you're purchasing your first full-size acoustic drum set, upgrading from a smaller student kit, or looking for a versatile kit for practice, rehearsal, worship, or performance, the Mapex Comet provides a strong foundation for developing your skills.

10", 12", 16", 14", 22" Configuration

This Comet configuration offers a traditional five-drum setup with a 22" bass drum, two mounted toms, one floor tom, and a 14" snare.

Drum Sizes

• 10" rack tom

• 12" rack tom

• 16" floor tom

• 22" bass drum

• 14" snare drum

The combination of 10" and 12" mounted toms provides clear, higher-pitched voices for fills and melodic patterns, while the 16" floor tom adds deeper tones.

At the foundation of the kit is the 22" bass drum, providing the deep, full low-end response that many drummers associate with a traditional full-size acoustic drum set.

This configuration gives developing players a broad tonal palette and plenty of room to explore different grooves, fills, and playing styles.

9-Ply Poplar Shells

The Mapex Comet features 9-ply, 7.2mm poplar shells, providing a warm and full tonal character throughout the kit.

Poplar is well suited to the Comet's role as a beginning and developing-player drum set. The shells deliver a musical response across the frequency range while providing a consistent foundation for practice, lessons, rehearsals, and performances.

With the 10", 12", and 16" toms, this configuration gives players three distinct tom voices, allowing for everything from simple fills to more elaborate arrangements.

The 22" bass drum rounds out the kit with a deep, authoritative low-end voice.

SONIClear™ Bearing Edges

One of the defining features of the Mapex Comet is its SONIClear™ Bearing Edge technology.

SONIClear™ bearing edges are designed to allow the drumhead to sit flush against the shell. This helps make tuning more straightforward while promoting shell resonance and tonal clarity.

For beginning and developing drummers, this is especially valuable. Learning how to tune drums is part of becoming a better drummer, but having a well-designed bearing edge makes it easier to achieve a consistent and musical sound.

The Comet therefore provides an approachable playing experience while incorporating technology found throughout the Mapex drum lineup.

360° Adjustable TH6215 Tom Holder

The Comet's TH6215 tom holder features 360° adjustment, giving players flexibility when positioning the 10" and 12" mounted toms.

The ability to adjust tom placement is important for both comfort and technique. Players can position the mounted toms according to their preferred height and angle, helping create a setup that feels natural behind the kit.

As a drummer develops, the ability to fine-tune the setup becomes increasingly useful, making the adjustable tom holder an important part of the Comet's design.

22" Bass Drum

The 22" bass drum gives this Comet configuration a deep, full response with plenty of low-end presence.

A 22" bass drum is one of the most familiar configurations in modern acoustic drumming and is particularly well suited to rock, pop, worship, country, blues, and other styles where a strong bass-drum foundation is desired.

Compared with smaller bass drums, the 22" configuration offers additional depth and projection while providing the traditional full-size appearance many players want from an acoustic drum kit.

For a drummer looking for a Mapex drum set with a 22" bass drum, this Comet configuration provides an excellent foundation for developing a full, versatile setup.

16" Floor Tom

The 16" floor tom gives the drummer additional tonal range and allow for deeper, more dramatic fills with a deeper, more powerful response.

Together with the 10" and 12" rack toms, the three tom configuration gives players a broad range of pitches to work with.

This makes the kit particularly appealing to drummers who enjoy larger setups and want more tonal options as their playing develops.

14" Snare Drum

The 14" snare drum provides the primary backbeat voice of the kit.

The standard 14" snare size is highly versatile and works across a wide range of musical styles. From tight, articulate playing to powerful backbeats, the snare forms the central rhythmic voice of the drum set.

Combined with the four toms and 22" bass drum, the 14" snare completes a traditional full-size acoustic drum configuration.

Ebony Yellow Grain Finish

The Ebony Yellow Grain finish gives this Mapex Comet a distinctive appearance that separates it from standard solid-color beginner drum kits.

The dark ebony-style finish is complemented by a vivid yellow grain, creating a visually striking combination that looks equally at home in a practice room, rehearsal space, studio, or on stage.

For players searching for a Mapex Comet in Ebony Yellow Grain, this finish offers a unique alternative to traditional black, red, or solid-color drum kits.

The combination of the larger 22" bass drum, four toms, chrome hardware, and Ebony Yellow Grain finish gives this Comet configuration a particularly substantial visual presence.

Cymbals & Hardware

The Mapex Comet is designed as a complete drum package, providing the essential hardware needed to set up and play the kit.

Depending on the specific package configuration, hardware includes:

• Hi-hat stand

• Cymbal stand

• Snare stand

• Single bass drum pedal

• Drum throne

• TH6215 tom holder

• 14" Hihat
• 16" Crash/Ride

A Full-Size Acoustic Drum Kit for Developing Players

The 10/12/14/16/22 configuration gives the Comet a larger, more expansive setup than compact beginner configurations.

With four toms, a 22" bass drum, and a 14" snare, players have plenty of room to develop their technique and experiment with more sophisticated drum arrangements.

The 10" and 12" rack toms provide higher voices, the 16" floor tom adds depth, and the 22" bass drum anchors the entire kit with a powerful low-end foundation.

This makes the configuration suitable for players who want a drum set they can continue developing with as their skills and musical interests grow.
