The Martin D-35 Standard Series is one of the most recognizable American-made acoustic guitars ever produced, combining powerful Dreadnought projection with the distinctive three-piece East Indian rosewood back that has defined the D-35 since its introduction in the 1960s.
This 2025-present Martin D-35 represents the latest evolution of the Standard Series, incorporating Martin's updated Golden Era-inspired construction and playability refinements. With a solid spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, forward-shifted GE non-scalloped bracing, and a comfortable GE Modified Low Oval neck, the D-35 delivers the combination of depth, clarity, balance, and projection that has made this model a favorite among professional musicians for generations.
This particular guitar is brand new and has been given a complete setup by Metz Music before shipment, so it is ready to play straight out of the box.
The Classic Martin D-35 Sound
The D-35's Dreadnought body produces a big, authoritative acoustic voice with substantial low-end response, articulate trebles, and plenty of headroom. The solid spruce top responds dynamically to both aggressive flatpicking and lighter fingerstyle playing, while the solid East Indian rosewood back and sides contribute richness, sustain, and harmonic complexity.
One of the defining characteristics of the D-35 is its three-piece rosewood back. Beyond its distinctive appearance, this construction has become an integral part of the model's identity and is one of the details that separates the D-35 from other Martin Dreadnoughts.
The result is an acoustic guitar that works equally well for strumming, flatpicking, singer-songwriter applications, fingerstyle, recording, and full-band performance.
2025 Standard Series Updates
Martin refreshed the Standard Series for 2025 with a number of construction and ergonomic improvements designed to enhance the playing experience while retaining the traditional Martin sound.
The D-35 features Golden Era-inspired Sitka spruce bracing, including a forward-shifted X-brace configuration and 1/4" GE non-scalloped braces. These refinements are designed to provide a responsive, balanced voice with strong projection and sustain.
The neck has also been updated with Martin's Golden Era Modified Low Oval profile and High-Performance Taper, giving the D-35 a comfortable feel across the entire fingerboard. Additional refinements to the fingerboard, bridge, heel, and nut contribute to a more streamlined modern playing experience while maintaining the unmistakable Martin aesthetic.
Solid Spruce Top & East Indian Rosewood
The D-35 pairs a solid spruce top with solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, a classic combination for players looking for a powerful yet sophisticated acoustic voice.
The spruce top provides dynamic response and clarity, while the rosewood body contributes deep bass, pronounced overtones, sustain, and a full harmonic character.
The Natural finish allows the traditional wood character of the D-35 to remain the centerpiece of the instrument.
Comfortable GE Modified Low Oval Neck
The 2025 D-35 features Martin's Golden Era Modified Low Oval neck shape with a High-Performance Taper.
With a 25.4" scale length and 1 3/4" nut width, the neck offers a comfortable combination of traditional Martin dimensions and modern playability. The satin neck finish also provides a smooth, natural feel while playing.
The ebony fingerboard features classic mother-of-pearl dot inlays and antique white binding, giving the instrument an understated, timeless appearance.
